Underground Railroad 10/07

Dear Readers,
You should have now finished the book!  Congratulations!  You just studied a topic more deeply from your unit in Social Studies, the Southeast Region.
My question for you today is When and why did the Underground Railroad stop? A fourth grade answer would have specific details from the text in both parts of the question. Show me you really understand what you read.

Love,
Ms. Fletter

  1. Dear Ms.Fletter,

The Underground Railroad stopped in 1865 because of the change in the law which said slavery was ended forever.

The Great Underground rail Road stopped because on December 18,1865,the civil war was over and there was a Constitution in the United States that the slavery was over and no one needed the Underground Rail road anymore. That is why the Underground Rail road stopped.

  5. Dear Mrs.Fletter/Springston

the Underground Railroad closed on the date of December 18,1865. the reason why it closed is because there is no need to use it if the civil war was won by the union states and slavery was over but slave owners were very mad.

  6. Dear Ms.Fletter,

The Underground Rail Road stopped because Abraham
Lincoln said that if you had a slave you had to let them go free.

  7. Dear Mrs. Fletter

The Underground Railroad ended because slavery ended now slaves did`t have to escape to be free so there was no need for the Underground Railroad.
