Hello Readers,
Today I would like you to think about the independent book you've been reading and consider any themes that have been presented. The theme is like the message or the moral of the book. What important messages have come out of the book you have read? What are the messages and talk about the event in the book that made you think of this theme.
Thanks,
Mrs. Springston

Next predictions
Hi Readers,
We just found out that Sam's family is moving into the woods and planning on building a home next to his tree(s).
Make several predictions about what you think will happen next, what life will be like for the Gribleys out in the woods and what Sam will do...don't forget to explain why you're making those predictions.
I am interested to hear how you PUSH your thinking!
Thanks,
Mrs. Springston

Winter is Coming!
Hello Readers,
Winter is almost upon Sam! Write a paragraph explaining your thinking about what Winter will be like in the woods for Sam. What do you think he is prepared for? Not prepared for? Do you think he'll make it through? What else might happen? Remember, I will not post until I believe you put in a 4 effort.
Thanks,
Mrs. Springston

We All Learn About Halloween
Hello Readers,
1) Why do you think Sam hosts a Halloween party? Would you do the same, why or why not?
2) Sam tell the reader that "might is right". What do you think that means for the creatures in the woods? Explain.
Thanks,
Mrs. S

Imagine...
Hello Readers,
Imagine that you ended up in the wilderness alone and you have no way of getting back home. Think about some of the things Sam has done to survive, and things he hasn't done yet that you would do.
Write a paragraph telling what YOU would do to survive in the wild.
Thanks,
Mrs. Springston
